The Author
Robyn Gerland is an award winning, Canadian author of five novels and a collection of short stories. Her writing, rooted in history, memory, and lived experience, explores how ordinary lives are shaped by extraordinary events, and how the past continues to echo through families, landscapes, and generations.
In addition to her books, her work appears regularly in Chicken Soup for the Soul, and in literary journals, magazines, and newspapers.
An educator with degrees in education and studies in art therapy, and a teacher of English and art on three different continents, she is literally, a world traveller — laughingly telling how she came, completely by accident, face to face with the well armed Berlin Wall, was in Czechoslovakia the day before the Russians invaded, and was lost in both The Casbah in North Africa and the night time jungle in Costa Rica.
Today, Robyn lives on Vancouver Island with her long-time partner, of 43 years, their rescued Ridgeback, Bella , and a personal motto that captures her joie de vivre:
Author and artist for the fun of it.
